Euphonia Tsholofelo Ndlovu practised as an Environmental Health Practitioner for five years (1991-1996) in the then Bophuthatswana Government and for seven years (1996 – 2003) at Edenvale Town Council, Ekurhuleni as such. Her daily duties comprised of Environmental Hygiene and pollution control: Systematic, routine and special inspections of:- business premises and factories(food and non- food) and other food handling establishments; street vendors; dwellings; vacant stands; spruits; council property; government buildings (institutions): schools and crèches.Administrative duties arising from the above inspections; interviews with the public; drafting statutory notice; interview architects; contractors and members of the public regarding plans; Business and residential plans, scrutiny, approval and licensing of business premises; final inspection of town houses and business premise;. health education; Aids Counselling; Attend departmental staff meetings; liaise with other departments; attend workshops, seminars and meetings; keep records concerning work done.
E T Ndlovu joined the University of Johannesburg in 2003 – 2005 as a Lecturer and managed Occupational Health and Safety for level II, III and IV learners, as a component within the Environmental Health Programme.
In 2006 – 2009, E T Ndlovu joined Rotek Engineering as an Occupational Health and Safety Advisor and assisted the Company with practical aspects of safety, health, environmental and quality (SHEQ) management to ensure that arrangements for the provisions of the applicable legislation are made, mostly by mentoring SHE Graduates placed in different Business Units and Support Services doing experiential training within the SHE Experiential Training Programme. Assisted the Company design, implement and maintain Emergency Preparedness Plan, Procedure and programme to explain the set requirements for an adequate level of preparedness, response and recovery for all Rotek Engineering Business Units and Support Services to prevent or minimize the impact of emergency situation. Facilitated training sessions on Safety Management Audit Technique (SMAT) to Rotek Engineering Business Units’ managers and supervisors .Overseen Environmental Management matters: Environmental Incidents,Waste Management, Environmental Expenditure, Environmental Awareness Environmental Monitoring (Qualitative) and Environmental Reporting.
From September 2009 to date, ET Ndlovu as a Managing Member, managed/manages her SHEQ Consulting Company, OOOSHEH Consulting, ASSISTING AND PARTICIPATING IN STAGES 1 – 6 OF PROJECT MANAGEMENT. She is involved in the day to day running of the company.
She participates in various Construction Projects as a Health and Safety Officer appointed by contractors and PrCHSA appointed by Project Managers/Clients as a member of the Project Professional Team.
She is passionate with mentoring others. As a social responsibility, she mentors people still seeking employment in the Occupational Health and Safety industry/environment. She facilitates workshops for contractors covering a vast number of topics pertaining to construction, including legislation and contractor management. She formally mentors Construction Health and Safety (CHS) Candidates at The South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions (SACPCMP).
She has also accomplished the following:
- Conducts school inspections/audits for guidance and generate reports assisting the schools to provide for health and safety at the schools so as to be ready for compliance audits.
- Designs and compiles Health and Safety files for clients in various industries including food and chemical industry.
- Participated in and successfully completed the Cherie Blair Foundation for Women’s Mentoring Women in Business Programme and is officially a Cherie Blair Foundation Mentee Alumni, from 2017.
- is registered with South African Institute of Safety and Health (SAIOSH), Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) UK, Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) SA and
- is a member of the Interview Panel and Construction Health and Safety Committee at SACPCMP. She is the leader of the CHS Committee’s Task Team for Candidate Registration and Mentorship at SACPCMP.
